Reflections on week 1

Tonight I’ll go to my first weigh-in since joining weight watchers for the upteenth time. It’s been a good week, and although a lot of my eating hasn’t changed dramatically, there have been two additions to my eating routine which has become vital….measuring and tracking.

One of the best wedding presents I received was my electronic scale. It measures things in grams, ounces, fluid oz, you get the picture. I’ve used it on and off for the last year… although mainly for recipe and baking purposes. But this week it’s been getting such a workout, I even had to change the battery!

Writing down everything that I consume. This is such an important thing with weight loss, and I love the online weight watchers tool which let’s me calculate and track it all electronically. It gives me a really good idea of where I am in the midst of my day and how much room I’ve got saved for the evening.

Measuring and tracking are two vital components to almost all weight loss plans. Even in the plans where you have the freedom to eat certain amounts of food, it’s a good idea to portion the ‘iffy’ foods—-like when you decide to treat yourself, in order to not have more than you intended.

After work I’ll go for my regular Tuesday 2-mile run with the girls. Then head home to clean up and head to weigh-in. Will post results tomorrow!
